Louis Waterhouse, Founder
” We are constantly working to provide the best calibration services in New England.”
Louis was born and raised in Maine. In 1996 two weeks after he graduated high school he was enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the Air Force Louis trained to become a Precision Measurement Laboratory (PMEL) Apprentice. After his honorable discharge in 2000, Louis went on to work for Arizona Calibration, The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Calibration Laboratory, and Northrop Grumman. It was during his time at Northrop that Louis founded LAW Calibration. He wanted to return to pursuing his passion in calibration and found that there were not any viable opportunities in Maine to do so. So, he decided to create his own opportunity and founded LAW Calibration. In March of 2010 Louis founded LAW Calibration since then he has built it into one of the largest calibration laboratories in Maine and is currently on track to becoming the largest.
LAW Calibration has received assistance from SCORE and is a member of Maine PTAC services.

LAW Calibration calibrates equipment in the following disciplines: Electrical, Dimensional, Mechanical, Mass, Force, Pressure, Temperature, Torque, and Velocity which covers 1000’s of different types of equipment. From calibrating torque wrenches and scales to sophisticated aeronautical navigation systems LAW Calibration has it covered. Our customers are just as diverse as our capabilities and are from industries that include Agriculture, Biotechnology, Composites/Advanced Materials, Construction, Government/Defense, Textile, Energy, Electrical/Electronic, Precision Machining and many others. LAW Calibration currently services customers over the entire state of Maine and has customers covering the entire East Coast, California, Mississippi and as far as Hawaii. LAW Calibration also supports several United Sates Coast Guard vessels and Petroleum Tankers that traverse the entire globe.
In March of 2010 LAW Calibration was established and was operating out of a sixty-four-square foot space in Louis’ basement. Six months later LAW moved to a 600 sqft commercial studio space. Within that space was an office, laboratory space, break area and storage. After two years of occupying that space and renovating it several times all that was left was laboratory space and a small desk set off in the corner and the lab was still not large enough to house the volume of equipment that was constantly arriving. LAW then moved to a 1500 sqft space 1000 sqft of which was designated as working laboratory space. It took just a year before that space was completely renovated and the lab space grew to 1400 sqft. In the winter of 2015 LAW expanded yet again and took over an additional 1000 sqft of a neighboring tenants space. After renovations were completely the working laboratory space had grown to just over 2000 sqft. The entire space was reconfigured in early 2016 to increase efficiency of moving equipment through the lab. LAW has already begun construction of a 10,000 sqft building to accommodate future growth with an estimated completion of October 2017. LAW Calibration provides calibration and repair services for test and measurement equipment. LAW provides many of its calibration services at its customer’s sites and offers pick-up and delivery throughout Maine.
In 2015 Louis restructured the business and hired additional employees to assist in the day to day functions of running a thriving small business.
